Quad

Relaxing, Social Islands

commonspcs_YHS-quad.png

Instead of covering the entire space in grass which teenagers do not prefer to sit on, planter boxes and added benches are more accessible to them. More canopy will actually soften the landscape even with more concrete space. Teenagers seemed to prefer walking and sitting on hardscape. Playing with materials (curvilinear concrete, wooden benches, rock benches, etc.) can add variety and identity to the space.
